Firefighters come each year to teach fire safety to a classroom:

Firefighter: This is a fire alarm. It is used to signal people in a house that there is smoke and maybe even a fire.

Kindergartner: No it isn't, that's an alarm to tell my mommy that the food is done.

Amaze your family and friends with some St. Patrick's Day facts. Did you know that the first St. Patrick's Day parade was not in Ireland, but Boston in the year 1737? Nine of the people singing the Declaration of Independence were of Irish origin. Did you know that for every 1 lucky four-leaf clover found there are 10,000 regular three-leaf clovers? The Irish flag is green, orange, and white. Green represents the people of the south, orange represents the people of the north, and white represents the peace that brings them together. Did you know that every year, the Chicago River is dyed green using 40 pounds of green vegetable dye. Funny, since the original color associated to St. Patrick's Day was blue. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Are you ready for a little extra daylight when you get out of school and off work? Most people can't wait for this event each year. The main purpose of Daylight Savings Time is very simple-to make better use of daylight. We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening. The rationale behind Daylight Saving Time is to save energy in the summer months by extending the daylight in the evening when more people would be using more lights and electricity. So, don't forget to spring forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night so you can enjoy an hour more daylight on Sunday!

Now here are just a few facts you might not know about the month of March: March's birthstone is aquamarine, which symbolizes faithfulness, courage, and friendship. As legend goes, sailors would wear aquamarine to keep them safe at sea and to prevent seasickness. February's birth flower is the daffodil. The daffodil is one of the first flowers to emerge in the spring; therefore it is a symbol of rebirth. Known for its trumpet shape, daffodils bulbs are easily planted in September through October and bloom in colors of yellow, white, and orange during the marvelous month of March!
